About Us
TanzTheaterBerlin was founded in 2020 by the Berlin based artist duo Lena Biallawons and Steven De Gijnst. The aim of this new company is threefold: to establish innovative forms of contemporary dance for Berlin's numerous theaters and stages. To ensure that the city of Berlin is more visible as an outstanding location in the international dance world. And to enrich and enlighten the public's viewing experience.
At TanzTheaterBerlin, we allow time for intensive exploration, detailed processing, and precise musical and choreographic realization. We deliver unusual stories, narrated on stage through the medium of dance. Therefore, the company emphasizes its special choice of music, artistic perfection, and emotional expression.
TanzTheaterBerlin knows no boundaries. We produce across genres in close collaboration with musicians, lighting, stage and costume designers. We regard diversity as a strength and place great value on versatility in the selection of dancers. As a result, TanzTheaterBerlin brings outstanding artists to the stage who would not usually be seen in any classical ensemble. That is what makes this company so unique.
